  1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of G20 summit, on June 28, 2019 held bilateral talks with Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman on deepening cooperation in trade and investment, energy security and counter-terrorism. Saudi Crown Prince Invited PM Modi to be the main guest at an international program later this year. PM accepted the invitation.

Kerala (Larger states), Mizoram (smaller states) and Chandigarh (UT) topped the 2nd edition of report titled “Healthy States, Progressive India: Report on Rank of States and UTs” released by NITI Aayog. The report has been prepared in collaboration with Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare along with technical assistance from World Bank. The current edition of health index accounts for period 2015-16 (base year) to 2017-18 (reference year). The 1st edition of Health Index was released in February 2018.
  3. Telangana is hosting the triennial International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) Congress in Hyderabad from 26 June to 3 July 2019. Being held for the first time in Asia, 32nd ISTA congress is expected to help State to implement its plans into actions. Telangana is India’s major hub of seed production as it meets about 60% of country’s needs in major crops like rice, soyabean, sorghum, maize, pearl millet and cotton. ISTA was formed in 1924.
  4. The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed all across the world every year on 26 June to raise awareness against drug abuse and the illegal drug trade. This year theme was “Health for Justice. Justice for Health” The United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the resolution 42/112 on 7 December 1987 to observe 26 June as International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The day was celebrated for the first time in 1989.
  5. Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana has announced an annual financial health assistance of Rs.5 lakh to loktantra senanis or their spouse for treatment at private or government hospitals. Loktantra Senanis are people who were jailed during 1975-1977 Emergency under preventive detention laws. Loktantra Senanis, who went to jail during the Satyagraha Movement in emergency, are already provided a monthly pension of Rs 10,000 by the state govt. and also free travel in the Haryana Roadways buses.
  6. A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between the Union Ministry of Shipping and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur for setting up Centre for Inland and Coastal Maritime Technology (CICMT). The MoA will focus on indigenisation of ship designing, building and testing. It will be 1st of its kind facility and will be a hub for latest technology tools for maritime sector and will reduce India’s dependence on foreign institutions.
  7. India has signed a loan agreement worth 400 million dollar with the World Bank to help treat and eliminate Tuberculosis from the country. In India, around five lakh people die every year due to Tuberculosis. The program will cover nine States and it will support the government’s National Strategic Plan to end TB in India by 2025.
