  1. India’s second Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Multi-Modal terminal at Sahibganj, Jharkhand will open up industries of Jharkhand and Bihar to the global market and provide Indo-Nepal cargo connectivity through a waterways route. He also laid the foundation of a secretariat building in the state capital Ranchi, which will come up at an estimated cost of Rs. 1238.92 crores. He also inaugurated the newly constructed building of Vidhan Sabha or Legislative Assembly of Jharkhand.

  2. Hima Das has been named as the brand ambassador of PepsiCo India’s sports drink brand Gatorade. With this, the 19-year old joins ace shuttler PV Sindhu (since 2017) and javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra (since 2018) as the brand’s ambassadors.
  3. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik inaugurated the Unani Medical Centre, started by the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), in New Delhi on 13th September, 2019. CCRUM was established in 1979 to initiate, aid, develop and co-ordinate scientific research in Unani System of Medicine.
  4. Maitree 2019, a joint military exercise between India and Thailand, will be conducted from 16th to 29th September, 2019 in Meghalaya to share experience gained during various counter-terrorism operations. Started in 2006, it is conducted alternatively in India and Thailand every year.
  5. President of India Ram Nath Kovind addressed the India-Iceland Business Forum in Reykjavik, Iceland on 11th September, 2019, during his three-day visit to Iceland from 9th to 11th September, 2019. This is a part of President’s three nation visit to Iceland, Switzerland and Slovenia. There is a lot of economic potential and opportunities between India and Iceland in pharma, healthcare, finance, hospitality, tourism services and biotech space.
  6. The 24th World Energy Congress was held under the patronage of President of UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 9th to 12th September, 2019 with the theme ‘Energy for Prosperity’. Being organised since 1924, the World Energy Congress is a triennial event.
  7. Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) Mahendra Nath Pandey laid the foundation stone for the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) at Mumbai, Maharashtra. Indian Institute of Skills (IISs) will be set up in three cities namely, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kanpur. IIS seeks to ensure that 5,000 trainees will pass out every year with 70% placement opportunities. Tata Education Development Trust (TEDT) was selected as the private partner for setting up IIS in Mumbai.
