India’s Lieutenant General (Retired) Abhijit Guha has been appointed as the head of the UN Mission in Hodeidah, Yemen by the Secretary-General of United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres. He will succeed Danish Lieutenant General Michael Lollesgaard, who served this post from 31^st January to 31^st July, 2019. Guha has 39 years of national and international military experience.

Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar announced that 118 new Community Radio Stations (CRS) will be set-up across the country and become operational within a period of the next six months. Community radios are small FM radio stations with a coverage area of about 10 to 15 km radius, depending on the geography of area.

In order to commemorate the 550^th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, an anthology of his writings will be translated and published in various world languages by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Baba Guru Nanak Dev is the founder of Sikhism. National Book Trust (NBT) will also publish Gurbani, various compositions by Sikh Gurus and other writers of Guru Granth Sahib, in different Indian languages.

Union Human Resource and Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishak announced that the Ministry has prepared a module to introduce the study of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at school level. For this purpose, the HRD Ministry has joined hands with technology leaders like Intel.

Department of Biotechnology under the Union Ministry of Science & Technology announced that India has joined the Global Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Research and Development (R&D) hub and will be on the board of members from 2019 itself. Following a call from G20 leaders in 2017, Global AMR R&D was established in Berlin, Germany in May, 2018 on the sidelines of the 71^st session of the World Health Assembly (WHA).

‘Mukhya Mantri Dal Poshit Yojana’ was launched by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to provide state ration card holders 2 kg of two different varieties of pulses at a subsidised rate of Rs. 15 per kilogram. Varieties of pulses identified for this scheme include chana, malka and masur.

Hindi Divas is observed every year in India on 14^th September to celebrate the popularity of Hindi as an official language of India. As per the latest reports, 43.63% people in India currently speak Hindi language. It is the fourth most spoken language in the world. The day was first celebrated in 1953.
