  1. Department of Science and Technology has completed the vulnerability study in 12 Himalayan states. The vulnerability was measured on a scale 0-1 with 1 indicating the highest possible level of vulnerability. Assam and Mizoram with a vulnerability score of 0.72 and 0.71 topped the vulnerability index. Sikkim with the score of 0.42 was relatively less vulnerable. The scores of other states are J&K (0.62), Manipur (0.59), Meghalaya and West Bengal (both 0.58), Nagaland (0.57), Himachal Pradesh and Tripura (0.51 both), Arunachal Pradesh (0.47) and Uttarakhand (0.45).
  2. President Ramnath Kovind inaugurated the Festival of Innovation & Entrepreneurship (FINE) at Grambharti near Gandhinagar in Gujarat. The festival is an initiative of the Office of the President of India to recognise, respect and reward grassroots innovations and foster a supportive ecosystem. The Festival helps in promoting lateral learning and linkages among the innovators to enrich the ecosystem for new India.
  3. Under the Sustainable Growth Pillar of the India-U.S. Strategic Energy Partnership, Niti Ayog in association with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) organized the first workshop on the development of the India Energy Modelling Forum (IEMF). IEMF is envisaged as a pan-stakeholder platform for debating ideas, scenario-planning & discussing India’s energy future.
  4. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency has released the first of its kind draft consultation paper titled Unlocking National Energy Efficiency potential (UNNATEE) for accelerating energy efficiency in India. The consultation paper offers a comprehensive roadmap to address India’s environmental and climate change mitigation action through energy efficiency measures. Bureau of Energy Efficiency is a statutory body set up under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.

The Supreme Court on March 14, 2019 appointed senior advocate PS Narasimha as mediator for resolving various disputes related to cricket administration within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Narasimha will hear the BCCI’s position, and then make recommendations to Committee of Administrators (CoA).
  6. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will be on a two-day visit to Maldives starting on 17 March, 2019. She will be accompanied by foreign secretary Vijay Gokhale. During this visit, the minister will call on President of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.  She will also hold a joint Ministerial Meeting to discuss cooperation on a wide variety of issues.
  7. Prime Minister of Guinea Dr. Ibrahima Kassory Fofana has arrived in New Delhi on 16 March, 2019 on a ten day official visit to India. Mr Fofona will address the inaugural session of 14th CII-EXIM Bank Conclave on India-Africa Partnership Project in New Delhi on 17 March, 2019. Mr Fofona will also call on President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 18 March, 2019.
