  1. Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah launched Chandigarh Police’s three citizen centric services – Emergency Response Support System (ERSS – Dial 112), ‘E-Beat Book’ System and ‘E-Saathi App’. Citizens can send their emergency information via call, SMS, email as well as through 112 India mobile app.

Ace Indian boxer Amit Panghal settled for the silver medal after his defeat by Shakhobidin Zoirov of Uzbekistan Zoirov in the flyweight (48-52 kg) category at the AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships at Ekaterinburg in Russia on 21st September, 2019. The AIBA World Boxing Championships is a biennial amateur boxing competitions organised by the International Boxing Association (AIBA). The Championships were first held in 1974 Havana, Cuba.
  3. Indian singer Sonu Nigam has been honoured with the ‘Magnificent Performing Arts Award’ at the 21st Century Icon Awards in London, United Kingdom (UK). Founded by UK-based Indian-origin entrepreneurs Preeti Rana and Tarun Ghulati, the awards aim to support and promote the next generation of inspiring leaders as role models for future generations.
  4. India and Mongolia signed two MoUs in the fields of disaster management and space cooperation in the presence of President Ram Nath Kovind and Mongolian President Battulga Khaltma in New Delhi on 20th September, 2019. The other documents that were exchanged between both the countries include a Cultural Exchange Protocol and a Comprehensive Work Plan between the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, India and the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia.
  5. The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has approved more than 200 projects worth Rs. 3,000 crores in the Entire North East including Assam. 110 projects worth Rs. 1699 crores were sanctioned for the development of the North-East states where 66 projects costing Rs. 820 crores have been completed, as per the Ministry. Some of the major schemes are construction of a double-lane road from Lanka to Umrangso, the first Bamboo Industrial Park in Assam and the Digboi town water supply scheme.
  6. India and Belgium Luxembourg Economic Union (BLEU) held the 16thsession of the Joint Economic Commission to improve bilateral trade relations between India and Belgium. The Belgium Luxembourg Economic Union (BLEU) was established in 1921 after a treaty was signed between Belgium and Luxembourg. Joint Economic Commission (JEC) Sessions were established after an agreement signed in 1990 in New Delhi and will take place every other year in capital cities of the three countries alternatively.
  7. US President Donald Trump has named the special presidential envoy for Hostage Affairs at the State Department, Robert O’Brien as the new National Security Adviser (NSA) of the United States. He will replace John Bolton who was fired by Trump recently. O’Brien had been appointed as the US representative to the UN General Assembly in 2005. He will be the fourth national security adviser under Donald Trump‘s administration and the 28th NSA overall.
