  1. Skytrax, a UK-based consultancy firm which runs an airline and airport review and ranking site released Skytrax World Airport Awards which lists the Best 100 Airports of the World. The accolade was awarded at the Passenger Terminal Expo 2019 in London. Singapore’s Changi Airport has been crowned the world’s best aviation hub for the seventh time in a row. Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) stood at second place. Indira Gandhi International Airport of New Delhi stood at 59 this year compared to 66 last year.

  2. India has lost to South Korea in the final of Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey tournament at Ipoh in Malaysia on 30 March. South Korea lifted the title, defeating India in a shoot out 4-2. Hosts Malaysia defeated Canada 4-2 and secured the 3rd place. Asian games Gold medalist Japan stood at 5th place.
  3. Rajasthan Day is celebrated every year on March 30 to celebrate the valour, strong willpower and sacrifice of the people of Rajasthan. Rajasthan earlier known as Rajputana came into existence on March 30, 1949. States like Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jaipur, and Jodhpur got merged and formed Greater Rajasthan on 30th March 1949 which was inaugurated by Sardar Vallabh.
  4. India and Bolivia on March 29, 2019 signed eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during President Ram Nath Kovind’s three-day visit to the country. President Kovind was conferred with the highest State honour of Bolivia, “Condor de Los Andes en el Grado de Gran Collar” by the President of Bolivia, Evo Morales in Santa Cruz.
  5. The Government on March 29, 2019 constituted a Multi Disciplinary Terror Monitoring Group (MDTMG) to ensure concerted action against terror financing and other terror related activities in the State of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). The Additional Director General of Police (CID) of J&K Police will head the MDTMG. The Group has been tasked to take action against hardcore supporters among government employees including teachers who are providing support to terror activities.
  6. India and the United States on March 29, 2019 signed the first amendment to the Statement of Guiding Principles (SGP) on triangular cooperation for global development. The SGP agreement, which was signed in November 2014, underscores the contribution of India-US partnership to global stability and prosperity. The agreement provides a framework for promoting cooperation between the two countries to meet the developmental aspirations of partner countries, particularly in Asia and Africa.
  7. According to a new international study titled ‘Young Lives’ on childhood poverty, the north eastern state of Tripura occupies the second position in India in terms of child marriages among girls between the age of 15 and 19 years at 21.6 per cent, which is significantly higher than the national average of 11.9 per cent. The study is a collaborative research project coordinated by a team based at the University of Oxford. Arunachal Pradesh topped the list in India.
