  1. Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) under Ministry of AYUSH organised a Two-day Yoga Mahotsava which will be a Curtain Raiser for upcoming International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2019 and was inaugurated by Shri Rajeev Kumar, Vice-Chairman, NITI AAYOG at New Delhi. He also presented theme for IDY 2019 as ‘Yoga for Heart’. International Yoga Day is one of the biggest mass movements for health and wellness.

  2. Melba Pria, Mexico’s Ambassador to India, presented Mexico’s highest civilian honour for foreigners titled ‘Orden Mexicana del Aguila Azteca‘(order of the Aztec Eagle) to the former President of India, Pratibha Patil. The award was created in 1993 by the then President of Mexico, Abelardo L. Rodriguez.
  3. Four-time MP Pinaki Misra has been appointed as the BJD’s (regional party of Odisha) Parliamentary Party Leader, which won 12 seats in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Pinaki Misra had won from his Puri parliamentary constituency. In the Odisha state assembly elections, BJD (Biju Janata Dal) established its political supremacy by winning 112 Assembly seats in 146-member House.
  4. Indian Air Force chief Birender Singh Dhanoa will embark on a four-day official visit to Sweden from June 3 to 6. He will visit various operational and training units as well as interact with senior functionaries of the Swedish Air Force amongst others. The visit would provide an impetus towards defence cooperation and pave the way for greater interaction and cooperation between the Air Forces.
  5. US President Donald Trump arrived in Britain on 3 June, 2019 for a three-day state visit during which he is to attend a banquet hosted by Queen Elizabeth II and meet outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May.   He is expected to discuss climate change and Chinese technology firm Huawei during talks with outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May.
  6. Bombay High Court upheld the Constitutional validity of an amended to the section 376 (e) of the Indian Penal Code under which repeat offenders in rape cases can be awarded life imprisonment or death penalty. The amendment was made after the Nirbhaya incident in Delhi in 2012. A division bench of Justices B P Dharmadhikari and Revati Mohite Dere dismissed petitions on 3 June filed by three convicts in the Shakti Mill gangrape case.
  7. Smriti Irani on June 3, 2019 took charge as the Minister of Women and Child Development. Ravi Shankar Prasad also took charge as the minister of Law and Justice. On the other hand, Arjun Munda assumed the charge as Tribal Affairs minister and Renuka Singh took charge as Minister of state in the Tribal Affairs ministry. Dr Harsh Vardhan takes charge as Health Minister.
