  1. Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN), Sa-Dhan and Finance Industry Development Council (FIDC) have jointly launched the ‘Code for Responsible Lending’ (CRL) for the micro credit industry at Sa-Dhan’s 15th Annual National Conference held in New Delhi. Sa-Dhan is a Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recognised self-regulatory organisation and industry association for the microfinance industry. Sa-Dhan was founded in 1998.
  2. Center-2019 International Command Exercise is being held by Russia and six other countries from 16th to 21st September, 2019. It is an annual strategic and operational military exercise which is not aimed at any third-party country rather than focus on counterterrorist operations. It is purely defensive in nature.

  3. Sri Lanka unveiled the tallest tower in South Asia in Colombo city. The 350-metre tall tower is in the shape of lotus. The 80% of this lotus tower’s cost has been funded by China under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). It comprises a hotel, a TV tower, restaurants, a mall, a telecommunications museum and an auditorium.
  4. A New-Generation Wargaming Software developed by New Delhi-based Institute for Systems Studies and Analysis (ISSA) has been handed over by the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) to the Indian Navy. The software is aimed at creating an environment that would enable Maritime Warfare Centres (MWCs) to train using latest technological and computing tools. The ISSA is a premier DRDO laboratory.
  5. The first trilateral naval exercise involving the Indian Navy (IN), Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and Royal Thailand Navy (RTN) will be held at Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands from 16th to 20th September, 2019. The main aim of the exercise is to bolster maritime inter-relationships amongst India, Thailand and Singapore as well as to contribute significantly towards enhancing the overall maritime security in the region.
  6. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has launched the Mukhya Mantri Seva Sankalp Helpline ‘1100’ (Chief Minister’s Service Resolution Helpline) for speedy and time-bound redressal of public grievances using modern technology. With this, it has become the fourth state in the country to provide this facility after Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
  7. The Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Amendment Bill, 2019 that will facilitate smooth and speedy eviction of unauthorised occupants from government residential accommodations, has been passed by the Parliament. The bill amends the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1971.
