  1. The Telangana Government and World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Centre for Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) Network announced the launch of a drone-delivery project called ‘Medicine from the Sky’. The Telangana government, World Economic Forum and Health Net Global signed an agreement for the project to be supervised and managed by leaders in the field of medicine, technology and research.
  2. The annual Joint Military Exercise ‘Hand-in-Hand’ between India and China will be held at Umroi, near Shillong, Meghalaya in December 2019. This two-week long company-level exercise will be the 8th edition of the India and China military drill. Company level means that around 100-120 infantry troops from both sides will be participating. The Joint Military Exercise Hand-in-Hand was first started in 2007 in Kunming (in China).

Sheila Dikshit, senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Delhi passed away at the age of 81 in New Delhi on 20th July, 2019. She was Delhi’s longest-serving chief minister, having served in office for three consecutive terms from 1998 till 2013. Sheila Dikshit was appointed as the President of Delhi State unit in January 2019 after Ajay Maken stepped down.
  4. Eighteen Indian crew members are reported to be among the 23 people on board the ship STENA IMPERO that has been seized by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard from the Strait of Hormuz. External Affair Ministry’s Spokesman Raveesh Kumar said that the Indian Mission is in touch with the Government of Iran to secure the early release and repatriation of Indian nationals. Britain’s Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said that the seizure of the ship was in contravention of international law. It raises serious questions about the security of British ships.
  5. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, in Hyderabad, said that a total of 1.5 lakh wellness centres are to be established in the country under Ayushman Bharat programme. 20 thousand wellness centres will be completed by the end of the current year. The government has also set a target of eradicating Tuberculosis from the country by 2025.
  6. President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Governors for six states. Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandi Ben Patel will now be the new Governor of Uttar Pradesh while Lal Ji Tandon, who is the Governor of Bihar, has been shifted to Madhya Pradesh. Phagu Chauhan will be the Governor of Bihar. Jagdeep Dhankhar has been appointed as the new Governor of West Bengal while Ramesh Bais is now the Tripura Governor. R.N.Ravi will be the new Governor of Nagaland.
  7. Indian sprinter Hima Das won the gold medal in the 400-meter race with a season-best time of 52.09 seconds at Nove Mesto in the Czech Republic on 21st July, 2019. It was Hima Das’ fifth gold medal in a month. Hima has already won gold in 200 meters race at the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix and Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland. She won her third 200 meters gold at the Kladno Athletics Meet and fourth gold at the Tabor Athletics Meet in the Czech Republic.
