  1. Switzerland topped the International Institute of Management Development’s (IMD) World Talent Ranking (WTR) report for the year 2019. India’s rank slipped six places from 53rd in 2018 to 59th in 2019 among 63 countries. Annually released by the IMD, the report assesses the status and the development of competencies necessary for enterprises and the economy to achieve long term value creation. Established in 1990, the IMD has its headquarters at Lausanne, Switzerland.

  2. The Company Law Committee, 2019 submitted its report to the Finance Minister on 18th November, 2019. The Company Law Committee chaired by Injeti Srinivas, Secretary of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, was constituted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in September, 2019, interalia, to further decriminalize the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013 based on their gravity and to take other concomitant measures to provide further Ease of Living for corporates in the country.
  3. The Central Government has banned a Meghalaya-based insurgent group called ‘Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council’ (HNLC), for its increased activities of violence and other subversive acts. The activities of the group are detrimental to the sovereignty and integrity of India. The group continues to intimidate and bully civilians to extort funds, maintains links with other insurgent groups of the Northeast to carry out acts of extortion and intimidation and maintains camps in Bangladesh to give sanctuary and training to its cadre.
  4. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India on 18th November, 2019 signed a $91 million loan to modernize the Vijayanagara Channel irrigation systems and prepare river basin management plans in the Krishna river basin that will help improve irrigation water use efficiency and contribute to improving sustainable water security in Karnataka. The Asian Development Bank(ADB), with 68 member countries, is a regional development bank, established on 19th December, 1966.
  5. The Assam Olympic Association (AOA), on 18th November, 2019, launched the ‘Grassroots Olympic – Mission Talent Hunt’ to identify and groom sports talent in the state. The AOA also constituted various sub-committees and commissions for the upcoming Khelo India Youth Games, which is scheduled to be held in Assam during January 10th to January 22nd, 2020.
  6. The Institute of Urban Transport (India) organised the 12th edition of the Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference and Exhibition 2019 under the theme “Accessible and liveable Cities” from 15th November to 17th November, 2019 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. It aims to disseminate information to the cities and to help them keep up-to-date with best urban transport practices. At the event, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) won two awards for its commendable initiatives in promoting the metro as a green and sustainable mode of transport among the masses.
  7. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on 18th November, 2019 signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) under which Gates Foundation will provide technical, management and program design support through its grantees and other partners, with a special focus on innovation, best practices and enhancing performance management, while working closely with the government.
