  1. The 2019 Commonwealth Law Ministers Conference will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 4th November to 7th November, 2019 under the theme ‘Equal Access to Justice and the Rule of Law’. Union Minister for Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad will represent India at the conference. Sri Lanka’s Minister of Justice and Prison Reforms, Thalatha Atukorala, will chair the biennial conference that seeks to address challenges faced by millions of people seeking to resolve legal problems or disputes.
  2. India’s first-ever Arts Exposition, ‘eCAPA 2019 – Art from the Heart’ for artists blessed with Down Syndrome, Autism, Mental Retardation, Seizure Disorder and Dyslexia is being organised from 2nd November to 14th November, 2019 in New Delhi. It is a unique nationwide platform-cum-social venture for the artists to showcase their visual and performing arts.

  3. The JCB Prize for Literature 2019 has been awarded to Madhuri Vijay for her debut novel ‘The Far Field’. She had also won the Henfield Prize and the Pushcart Prize. Founded in 2018, it is awarded annually to a distinguished work of fiction by an Indian writer working in English or to a translated fiction work by an Indian writer.
  4. The ‘Red Atlas Action Plan Map’ atlas and the ‘Coastal Flood Warning System App (CFLOWS-Chennai)’ have been unveiled by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu for flood mitigation in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Prepared by the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences, the map aims to aid the state government of Tamil Nadu in effective flood mitigation in Chennai, which witnessed the worst deluge in 2015.
  5. Union Minister of State (independent charge) for AYUSH Shripad Naik inaugurated the National Research Institute of Unani Medicine for Skin Disorders on 3rd November, 2019 in Hyderabad. The institute has been upgraded from the Central Research Institute of Unani Medicine (CRIUM). The concept of AYUSH was brought by the National Rural Health Mission, 2005 to revitalize local health traditions.
  6. Vigyanika, an International Science Literature Festival that is being organised as part of the 5th India International Science Festival (IISF) 2019 at Kolkata, will also feature a Science Book Fair where more than thirty publishers will display their scientific publications. The Ministry of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences and Vijnana Bharati (Vibha) jointly organised the IISF 2019 from 5th to 8th November, 2019.
  7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 16th India-ASEAN Summit that is being held in Bangkok, Thailand. India highlighted the importance of enhancing surface, air and maritime connectivity between India and the ten nations of the bloc to boost the regional trade and economic growth. The ASEAN region along with India together comprises a population of 1.85 billion people, which is one fourth of the global population and their combined GDP has been estimated at over USD 3.8 trillion. The ASEAN is India’s fourth largest trading partner.
  8. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is going to set up a Space Technology Cell at the campus. The cell will work for carrying out focused research projects in the space technology domain with specific deliverables.
