  1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth jointly inaugurated the Phase-1 of the Metro Express Service and a new ENT Hospital in Mauritius through video conferencing. India and Mauritius are committed towards working for the prosperity of their people and for peace in the Indian Ocean region (IOR) and in the world.
  2. Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi on a four-day visit to India. She will attend the India Economic Summit of World Economic Forum (WEF) in Delhi on 3rd October 2019. She will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and both of them will jointly inaugurate three bilateral projects through a video conference call and exchange Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs).
  3. Chhattisgarh Government launched five new schemes – Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan, Mukhyamantri Haat Bazaar Clinic Yojana, Mukhyamatri Shahariya Slum Swasthya Yojana, Universal PDS Scheme and Mukhyamantri Ward Karyalaya – on 2nd October, 2019. Under Mukhyamantri Ward Karyalaya, the citizen services and facilities will be provided immediately to the citizens in cities. Under the Universal PDS (Public Distribution System) scheme, the general category families are also eligible for food grains.
  4. The International Day of Non-Violence is observed every year on 2nd October across the world to promote non-violence through education and public awareness. On 15th June, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to declare the day as the International Day of Non–Violence. The day commemorates the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the Indian independence movement and a pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence. The day is being celebrated every year since 2007.
  5. Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Minister of Steel, Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the ‘Paryatan Parv 2019’ that will be organised from 2nd to 13th October, 2019 across the country. It is dedicated to the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The idea of celebrating Paryatan Parv is to propagate the message of ‘Dekho Apna Desh’.
  6. Jaipur was ranked first in the Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat 2019 with a cleanliness score of 931.75 out of 1000. It is a cleanliness survey that is carried out by the Quality Council of India (QCI). Jodhpur was ranked second with a score of 927.19. The North Western Railway zone was awarded the cleanest railway zone of 2019.

On the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the commemorative coins of Rs. 150 denomination at the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on 2nd October, 2019. The Sabarmati Ashram is the seat from where Mahatma Gandhi launched the most famous of his freedom fight related movement. The first commemorative coin in India was issued in 1964 with the image of Jawaharlal Nehru to commemorate his birth anniversary.
