Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic

  1. The National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) has been re-designated as the WHO Collaborating Centre for Priority Medical Devices and Health Technology Policy by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO). The NHSRC was established in 2006.
  2. During Paryatan Parv 2019, the Union Ministry of Tourism launched an audio guide facility app called ‘Audio Odigos’ for twelve sites of India (including Iconic Sites). Tourists will now be able to enjoy a more enriching experience and take back historical insights of Indian culture and heritage. This year is the third edition of Paryatan Parv.
  3. PRAKASH (Power Rail Koyla Availability through Supply Harmony) Portal was jointly launched by the Union Power Minister (Independent charge) Raj Kumar Singh and Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi in New Delhi. It aims at bringing better coordination for coal supplies among all stakeholders. The portal has been developed by the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC).
  4. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejrival announced that the Delhi Cabinet approved a bill to set up India’s first Sports University that will offer graduate, postgraduate and doctorate degrees in hockey, football and cricket, on 3rd October, 2019.The University will act as a State University and will also have a full-fledged Delhi Sports School affiliated to CBSE.
  5. Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Vande Bharat Express that will run between Delhi and Katra station in Jammu and Kashmir. The train is the second of its kind. The first such train was launched between Delhi and Varanasi. It is the fastest train in India with a maximum speed of 160 km per hour. Katra is situated in the foothills of Trikuta mountains.
  6. Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) Ravi Shankar Prasad launched an Automated Real Time Performance Smart-board for effective monitoring and measurement of key programmes of government such as Digital India, Aadhaar, Digital Payments, etc., while celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He also unveiled an art installation at the IT Ministry named ‘Digital Charkha’.
  7. The United States (US) tested an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile from the California base. The missile traveled 6,750 km across the Pacific Ocean to the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Minuteman III was started in 1966. The missile is armed with 170 kilotons of TNT and has an Airborne Launch Control System.
