- Badri Narain Sharma, 1985-batch IAS officer, has been reappointed as Chairman of National Anti-profiteering Authority (NAA) for two years by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Constituted in 2017, NAA ensures that consumers get benefit of reduced prices under Goods and Services Tax (GST).
- Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar invited Nepal to be the Partner Country for the International Gita Jayanti Mahotsav, scheduled to be held at Kurukshetra from 3rd to 8th December 2019. He extended invitation to the Ambassador of Nepal to India Nilamber Acharya. Gita Jayanti Mahotsav symbolizes the birth of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, the sacred text of Hindus and the most pious and influential scriptures of Hindu mythology.
- An interactive workshop called ‘Waste to Wealth’, for discussing productive utilization of bauxite residue, commonly known as Red Mud, was organized by Union Ministry of Mines in association with Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC), Nagpur. Red Mud is a solid waste generated during Aluminium (Al) production process. Red mud generation is around 9 million tons per year in India.
Kirren Rijiju - The government has formed a high-level, 10-member committee under the Chairmanship of Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju to coordinate and strategise the preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and 2024 Paris Olympics on 26th July, 2019. The committee aims to provide all possible support to potential and qualified athletes for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
- President Ram Nath Kovind left on an official visit to three African countries – Benin, The Gambia and Guinea. The seven day visit will be the first high-level tour of any Head of State from India to the three West African countries. Union Minister Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Member of Parliament Dilip Ghosh are accompanying the President.
- Minister of Earth Sciences Dr Harsh Vardhan launched a new website of India Meteorological Department – www.mausam.imd.gov.in – on the occasion of the foundation day of Ministry of Earth Sciences. The website will provide all information related to weather. The Ministry of Earth Sciences was formed in the year 2006.
- Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on 27th July paid tributes to those who laid down their lives for the nation, at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi on the occasion of its 81st Raising Day. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is the India’s largest Central Armed Police Force and also considered to be the World’s largest Paramilitary Force. It came into existence as the Crown Representative’s Police on 27th July, 1939.
